Commercial Intercom & Entry Systems

An intercom lets you see or hear who is at the door and let them in without walking down to it. We install IP video intercoms and telephone entry systems for commercial and multi-residential buildings, and retrofit old systems over the wiring already in the walls.

Scope of work

Each part of the system, and what we do on it.

Scope of work: intercom & entry
PartWhat we do
Door stationsAudio and video door and lobby stations for visitors to call from
IP videoIP video intercoms whose calls can be answered on a desk station, a computer or a phone
Telephone entryTelephone entry systems that let visitors call residents, for apartment and condo buildings
Master stationsDesk master stations that answer every door and gate from one place
RetrofitsUpgrades that reuse the existing intercom wiring, where it tests suitable
Door releaseRelease wired to the door's strike or lock, and to gate operators, including remote release

The final scope follows the drawings, the site walk and what each trade supplies.

Upgrading an old intercom

If a building already has wiring and a dated intercom, reusing that wiring can cost less than running new cable. We test the existing runs first, and where they are suitable, the new stations go on the old cable.

Questions

Can the intercom work with our access control?
Yes. The intercom’s release is wired to the same lock the access system controls, so the door opens either way.
Can residents answer the intercom on their phones?
With an IP video intercom, yes. Calls can go to a desk station, a computer or a phone, so the person answering can see the visitor and release the door.
